In the works!
This fall arrives loaded with new designs, fruit of my collaboration with bigger and smaller yarn manufacturers and dyers. One of the things I like the most of designing handknits is working with people from this same market, I like to think that my designs help brands make their products better known.
As I have already mentioned in some of my blog entries, each yarn offers a different end result, so not everything will work out: thinking of and getting the most out of a yarn is a process that motivates me.
dLana
Since I got to know the project I have been wanting to contribute to its development. This year I’ve had the immense pleasure of working with these yarns, very ours, the ones that our great grandmothers knit with, thanks to a spectacular project to recover the production of native Spanish merino wool. Two of my new designs will be offered exclusively as kits by DLana:
Available exclusively from dLana starting Oct 31st.
A design for the guys, as I’ve been wanting to design for them for a long time! The child version is being worked on, and I like the grown up version so much that I can’t stop picturing the little ones wearing it.
Available exclusively from dLana starting Oct 31st.
This sweater has been my travel companion on the last months of the last winter and I have already gotten it out of storage for it to have an outstanding place in my wardrobe for this season. It’s a very comfortable sweater, super warm, and IMHO, very versatile.
The Fibre Co.
From the UK I have been sent these wonderful yarns to knit a couple of designs with: Minerva (already released) and Flapper, and I will be blogging about Flapper soon. I love everything about this brand, for their exceptional quality and their incredible colorways. Working with the team behind The Fibre Co. has been a pleasure so I hope these designs are the beginning of a long friendship.
Available from ravelry and devanalana starting Oct 31st.
Nurturing Fibres
Those of you that frequent this blog will not be surprised that I have again chosen Nurturing Fibres (in Spanish, Translated by Google here) for my designs. This is a project that is 100% committed to the economy of care, so I could not resist a collab with them. All their yarns are simply out of this world, but their KidSilk Lace (Silk and Mohair) inspires me just by touching it, and combined with their SingleSpun Lace it’s a pleasure to work with. Knit together, double stranded, they work up to a fingering weight that works well for shawls and more sophisticated sweaters. I was not quite sure what to make out of them, a shawl or a sweater? so I decided to design a garment that combined them both: two in one!
Available from ravelry and devanalana starting Oct 31st.
Illimani Yarn
My relationship with this brand is now years old. When I was still carrying yarn in my LYS, the owner contacted me for me to carry his Illimani Yarn. He did so in Spanish, despite it being a Canadian brand, because he’s originally from Peru, so our communication became a lot more fluid. His yarn make up, quality and pricing looked unrivaled to me and I really wanted to work with them. The issue was that all the alpaca yarns I was carrying on devanalana never sold out and I had remnants year after year on my shelves: Sevilla’s climate is way too warm for alpaca, so I was not brave enough to commit to selling it and so I told him. When I became centered on design we got back in touch and the collab came along on its own. So in addition to the two designs I’m releasing this season I am working on a shawl for spring.
Available from ravelry and devanalana starting Oct 31st.

VKConceptStore
From Estepona, Málaga, come these yarns, hand dyed by Inma at Vega Knits. I’ve been a fan of VK Concept Store for years now. Inma has a selection of yarns that is simply spectacular, and I have often sent my customers her way when they couldn’t find what they needed in my LYS. When she offered me to collab with her using her new hand dyed yarn range, I didn’t hesitate! Her colorways are stunning: bright, shiny, vibrant colors, all named after women 😉 She’s now working on a new range: linen, silk, bamboo, cotton and silk mohair… I hope these designs get some traction and to keep working with her.
